“Forty Billion Tracks Ripped”

According to IFPI (via Three Billion), digital music sales are up 25%. In general, we’re consuming an enourmous amount of music (and that’s not counting Pandora and Last.fm playing two tabs over as we download music on RCRD LBL). Buuuut, only 5% of all digital music downloads were legal.

Three Billion goes on to ask…
“If technology has allowed music to be proliferated more widely to more people, does that make young people today the greatest musos ever? A whole new generation of music experts?

Could young people not only beat the industry at its own pricing model but also reinvent music at the same time? You would bloody hope so. ”
